How to Get to Koh Lipe

1. Travel to Thailand or Southeast Asia

​

The nearest airports to Koh Lipe are:

  • Hat Yai (HDY): The most convenient option from mainland Thailand.

  • Langkawi (LGK): Ideal if traveling from Malaysia.

  • Krabi (KBV) or Phuket (HKT): Useful for routes with direct boat transfers.

 

2. Getting to Koh Lipe

From Bangkok (Thailand):

​

Fly to Hat Yai (HDY) with AirAsia, Thai Lion Air, or Nok Air. Once in Hat Yai, take a taxi or shuttle (2 hours) to Pak Bara Pier, then a ferry to Koh Lipe (1.5–2 hours).

 

From Kuala Lumpur (Malaysia):

  • Option 1: Fly to Hat Yai (HDY) with AirAsia or Malaysia Airlines. From Hat Yai, take a taxi or shuttle (2 hours) to Pak Bara Pier, then a ferry to Koh Lipe (1.5–2 hours).

  • Option 2: Fly to Langkawi (LGK) with AirAsia or Malaysia Airlines. From Langkawi, take a direct ferry to Koh Lipe from Telaga Harbour (1.5 hours).

 

From Singapore:

  • Option 1: Fly to Hat Yai (HDY) with Scoot or AirAsia. From Hat Yai, take a taxi or shuttle (2 hours) to Pak Bara Pier, then a ferry to Koh Lipe (1.5–2 hours).

  • Option 2: Fly to Langkawi (LGK) with Scoot or AirAsia. From Langkawi, take a direct ferry to Koh Lipe from Telaga Harbour (1.5 hours).

 

From Phuket, Krabi, or Koh Lanta (Thailand): Direct boat transfers are available.

  • From Phuket: Duration is about 5–6 hours, often with a stop at Koh Lanta.

  • From Krabi: Duration is about 4.5 hours. Boats depart from Klong Jilad Pier.

  • From Koh Lanta: Duration is about 3 hours, departing from Saladan Pier. These services are seasonal (November to April).

 

3. Ferry or speed boat to Koh Lipe

Ferries depart from several locations:

  • Pak Bara Pier (Thailand): 1.5–2 hours.

  • Langkawi (Malaysia): 1.5 hours, departing from Telaga Harbour.

  • Phuket, Krabi, Koh Lanta: Durations vary depending on the route and operator.

 

Ferry companies include Satun Pakbara, Bundhaya Speedboat, and Tigerline Ferry. Check schedules and book in advance, as they vary by season.

 

4. Arrival in Koh Lipe

All ferries arrive at Pattaya Beach. Upon arrival, you will need to pay a National Park Fee (around 200 THB per person, subject to change).

PRACTICAL TIPS

​

  • Book all ferries and transfers in advance, especially during high season (November to April).

  • Ensure your passport is valid and check visa requirements based on your nationality.

  • Exchange money to THB before arriving on Koh Lipe.

  • Traveling in high season ensures calm seas and more frequent ferry services. In low season (May to October), ferry options are limited, and seas can be rough.
